Top IELTS Writing Topics

IELTS Writing module students have to write an essay on a given topic of atleast 250 words within given time frame of 60 minutes. Students have 20 minutes for task1 and 40 minutes for task 2 to accomplish writing module. The basic purpose of this module is to evaluate test takers sentence formation and convincing argument skills in English. You need to fully aware with IELTS writing topics and its structure. The amount of time given to General and Academics students are same. It is the best way to practice IELTS writing section with some top writing topics. Following are some IELTS topics appeared in subsequent IELTS Exam. I hope you will get better result in overall IELTS Exam through improvement in IELTS Writing.

Topic No 1: You have recently moved to a new house. There has been damage after you have moved into the house. Write a letter to your landlord explaining what has happened and ask him what you can do.

Topic No 2: Governments should spend more money on education than on recreation and sports. Do you agree or disagree?

Topic No 3: Soon people who cannot work with computers will be disadvantaged. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this idea?

Topic No 4: Governments have to place the same number of men and women in different fields of study in universities. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Topic No 5: The elderly people of over 50 years of age should be retired and be replaced by the young. Do you agree or disagree?

Topic No 6:  Smoking tobacco like other dangerous drugs should be made illegal. Agree or disagree?

Topic No 7: A friend has written you a letter and offered you help in your forthcoming trip to a foreign country. He has offered you to help you find suitable accommodation. Write him a letter and tell him what you have in mind for accommodation.

Topic No 8: Young people nowadays would like to go shopping in their free times. Why do people do this? Is it good or should it be substituted by other activities?

Topic No 9: You have broken your leg and are staying at home for a few weeks. Your classmates have sent you so many presents and cards. Write a letter to them and describe how you spend your time and tell them about your recovery.

Topic No 10: Nowadays, many people from different nationalities and cultures get married together. What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of this?
